At a meeting of presidents of former Soviet states, Russia's Vladimir Putin said there's no need to rush to officially recognise the Taliban as governors of Afghanistan, but fellow leaders should interact with them.
That's been Russia's approach, with the embassy in Kabul continuing operations throughout the transition of power in Afghanistan, having developed a working relationship with the Taliban many years ago.
