UK INFLATION SPIKES

Inflation in the UK has seen its biggest jump since records began in 1997.

The Consumer Prices Index hit 3.2% in the year to August, up from 2% in July.

The Office for National Statistics says rising food costs were a major factor.

Senior Investments Analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown Susannah Streeter says the Bank of England will be paying close attention to whether this is a temporary spike - or something it needs to address.
