UK CONSIDERS STATE-BACKED LOANS AMID ENERGY CRISIS

The UK government's confirmed it's considering state-backed loans to help keep its energy sector afloat amid a gas price spike.

The price of wholesale gas has hit record highs, leading several energy firms to collapse because of caps on costs they can pass to consumers.

It's leading to fears of knock-on shortages of meat and drinks in the UK.

Energy minister Kwasi Kwarteng says the situation is not as bad as some are claiming.
