44 CHILDREN KILLED BY BUBONIC PLAGUE IN DRC

The United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF, says an outbreak of Bubonic plague in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo has claimed 44 lives since last year.

A study supported by the agency shows that children are especially at risk of contracting the disease because they are more exposed to the risk factors.
