UK/FRANCE DEAL AIMS TO CUT MIGRANT CHANNEL CROSSINGS

The UK will pay France 54 million pounds ($74m) to more than double patrols along the French coastline to try and reduce migrant crossings in the Channel.

The number of people who've made the dangerous journey to England in small boats this year has reached almost 8 and half thousand.

On Monday alone the number was at least 430 - a one-day record.

Lucy Moreton from the Immigration Services Union thinks the new deal will have a minimal impact.
