The head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen says the bloc is ready to discuss a US-backed proposal for a waiver on patents for Covid-19 vaccines.
French President Emmanuel Macron said he was in favour of the plans, amid pressure on wealthier nations to ensure fair distritbion of vaccines in the developing world.
