Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison who launched the prosecution of Derek Chauvin has celebrated the former police officer's conviction for the murder of George Floyd.
A video of Mr Chauvin kneeling on Mr Floyd's neck for more than nine minutes sparked global protests over racial injustice last year.
Keith Ellison told reporters he hopes the verdict sends a message to perpetrators of police brutality.
