Japan to declare virus state of emergency three months ahead of Olympics

The Japanese government is set to declare a state of emergency for Tokyo, Osaka and two other prefectures, with a final decision expected on Friday. Japan is facing a fourth wave amid mounting questions over the safety of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics scheduled to begin at the end of July.
