France backs civilian transition in Chad after president's death

France has called for a smooth transition in Chad to an "inclusive, civilian government" after the death of the president from injuries sustained on the frontline.

68-year-old Idriss Deby died on Tuesday after being wounded during an attack by rebels fighting the Chadian government.
