Former US Vice President Walter Mondale has died at the age of 93.
He served alongside President Jimmy Carter from 1976 until 1980, but then went down a landslide defeat against President Ronald Reagan in the 1984 election.
Walter Mondale is widely credited with reinventing the Vice Presidency, becoming the first occupant of the office to work out of the White House and work closely with the President on all aspects of domestic and foreign policy.
Mondale defined himself proudly as a liberal, but in a 2010 interview on America's PBS television network, he expressed disappointment that the word had become tarnished among US voters.
IN: "You know I don't…."
OUT: "…the same thing"
DUR: 31 seconds
