Earnings and retails sales set to dominate Wall Street focus [preview]

Earnings season kicks off in earnest this week with the major U.S.
banks all slated to release quarterly figures.

And retail sales figures due out on Thursday will offer further
insight into the strength of the nation's economic rebound.
