UK PM URGED TO IMPOSE 'CIRCUIT BREAKER'

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's under growing pressure to consider a short, so-called 'circuit breaker' national lockdown to contain rising covid-19 cases.

Opposition Labour leader Keir Starmer's given his support to the idea which has been recommended by government scientific advisers.

A new three-tier system of coronavirus restrictions is coming into force on Wednesday.

And work and pensions secretary Therese Coffey says that system and restrictions on socialising and hospitality opening hours should be given time to work.
