UK MPs TO VOTE ON INTERNAL MARKET BILL

UK MPs will vote later on controversial legislation which could lead to a breach of international law.

The Internal Market Bill contains what the government calls an 'insurance policy' to avoid checks on goods moving between Great Britain and Northern Ireland - in the event of no trade deal being reached with the EU.

A number of Conservative MPs are due to vote against the bill, criticising the government for attempting to override parts of the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement agreed with the European Union.

Cabinet minister Kit Malthouse says the legislation is necessary.
