Democrats increase calls for witnesses in impeachment trial

The top Democrat in the US Senate is urging Republicans to allow witnesses in President Trump's impeachment trial, which is due to start on Tuesday.

Democrats are hoping to call on Trump administration insiders who may have information on the Ukraine scandal.

The President's legal team has called the two articles of impeachment "constitutionally invalid."
Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer said they only need the support of a handful of Republicans.
