France rejects Western Balkan efforts to join the EU

France has rejected efforts from Western Balkan states to join the
European Union describing the process as an endless soap opera.

The move is seen as a blow to North Macedonia and Albania and the
decision runs counter to the wishes of Germany who favor greater EU
enlargement.
