LABOUR: UK SHOULD NOT EXTRADITE ASSANGE

The UK's opposition Labour Party says Julian Assange should not be extradited to the US.

The Wikileaks founder faces computer hacking charges in America, and is the subject of an extradition request.

However, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn says the UK would be handing him over to the Americans for 'exposing evidence of atrocities in Iraq and Afghanistan'.

Assange was arrested in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Thursday and swiftly convicted of skipping bail in 2012.

Extradition lawyer Anthony Hanratty says it's the British courts that will consider the US request.
