EU fines Google US$1.7B for antitrust violation

The European Commission has fined Google nearly 1.5 billion euros — about 1.7 billion US dollars — for breaching European Union antitrust rules. 


The EU alleges that Google illegally misused its dominance in the market to quash competition, in its third violation of EU antitrust laws in three years.
