Polls have opened in Burundi, as citizens vote in a referendum proposing constitutional changes that could extend the president's rule until 2034.
Critics fear the Thursday referendum could spark more violence and roll back some key aspects of the Arusha Agreement, which paved the way for ending the country's long and bloody civil war in 2005.
