President Robert Mugabee is vowing to stay in power, despite threats of impeachment against the 93-year old from Zimbabwe's ruling party.
During a much anticipated TV broadcast Mugabe had been expected to announce his resignation to the nation but instead suggested during the 20-minute address that he intends to remain in office.
Hundreds of thousands had already taken to the streets of the country's capital, Harare to celebrate Mugabe's downfall after he was placed under house arrest during a de facto military coup last week.
