A week on, toxic smog continues to envelop New Delhi

Air quality levels in India's capital city of New Delhi remained 10 times over the prescribed limit for the seventh straight day.

The country's top court has now asked the Indian government to explain what steps have been taken to deal with the 'emergency-like situation'.

All schools in Delhi have reopened but doctors have advised parents to keep children at home for another two days.
