The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and his Russian counterpart Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met ahead of the UN General Assembly underway in New York. The two officials discussed the Syrian crisis and the situation in eastern Ukraine. Ties between Washington and Moscow are at a "historic" post-Cold War low following recent diplomatic row over Russia's meddling with last year's US Presidential elections.
