Spanish PM uses national TV broadcast to call on Catalan region not to hold independence referendum

Spain's prime minister has gone on national TV to call on the Catalan region not to hold its independence referendum slated for October 1st.

The government in Madrid and Spain's constitutional court say the vote will be illegal but the separatist movement is pushing ahead with it.
