US Secretary of Defense reasserts military options on North Korea after Steve Bannon tells reporter "there's no military option"


US Secretary of Defense James Mattis has stressed there would be strong military consequences to hostility from North Korea after comments by White House official Steve Bannon.

This week the President's controversial adviser told a reporter from The American Prospect that "there's no military option" in relation to recent tensions on the Korean peninsula.

But speaking to the press on Thursday in Washington, Secretary Mattis reasserted the importance of a military deterrent:
