Speaking during his annual televised call-in show Russia's President Vladimir Putin denounced fresh US Senate sanctions as motivated by US domestic political problems. He stressed Russians do not see Americans as enemies, and offered political asylum to former FBI chief James Comey if he faces persecution at home over leaking details of his conversations with President Donald Trump.
