Media reports: US President Donald Trump is giving Defence Secretary authority to set troop numbers in Afghanistan

According to media reports, US President Donald Trump is giving Defence Secretary James Mattis the authority to decide troop numbers in Afghanistan.

Around 9000 US troops are currently stationed in the country.
