Calls for unity following shooting at Congressional baseball practice

The shooting of five, including a key member of the Republican Congressional leadership, at baseball practice has renewed calls for unity in a politically divided American capital.

The Republicans Congressmen, staffers and friends were practicing for a charity baseball game.

Most public activities of the U.S. Congress have been post-poned in the wake of the violence.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan spoke briefly in a short session.

According to reports, Mr. Hodgkinson was 66 years-old, from Illinois, and had supported Democrat, Senator Bernie Sanders for U.S. President.
