White House refuses to comment on whether US President taped conversations in Oval Office

The White House is refusing to comment on whether US President Donald Trump taped conversations with FBI Director James Comey.

Comey was removed from his position on Tuesday, a move that has sent shock waves through Washington.

And in a tweet on Friday...President Trump said the fired FBI chief "better hope there are no tapes of their conversations."

But speaking to reporters...White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer repeatedly refused to comment on whether any recordings exist:

IN: "Is the President..."
OUT: "...comment on this."
DUR: 8 seconds
