The White House has played down Barack Obama's warning to newly elected President Trump against hiring Michael Flynn as national security adviser.
President Obama's advice to his successor came just after the election during their meeting in the Oval Office.
Mr Flynn was fired by Trump after he concealed his contacts with the Russian ambassador.
