New WHO chief optimistic over U.S. support

The newly elected head of the World Health Organization says he's
hopeful that U.S. lawmakers will show their support for global health
projects.

The U.S. is a substantial donor to the WHO but President Donald Trump
has pushed for deep budget cuts that would slash funding for aid
agencies.
