'UPBEAT' BUDGET FOR UK AMID BREXIT

The UK's Finance Minister Philip Hammond is due to set out an 'upbeat' assessment of the British economy as it heads for Brexit, in his first budget speech.

The Chancellor will tell the House of Commons later (1230GMT) his budget will prepare the UK for a 'new chapter'.

He's expected to announce more funding for social care and schools.

But despite stronger than expected public finances, Mr Hammond is expected to be cautious with spending so the UK can weather economic storms as it leaves the EU.
