'NO DETAILED UK ASSESSMENT' ON IMPACT OF NO EU TRADE DEAL

The UK government has not yet done a detailed assessment of the economic impact of not reaching a trade deal with the European Union before it leaves the bloc.

The admission has come from Brexit Minister David Davis, who insists leaving the bloc with no deal, would be better than agreeing a bad deal.

UK Prime Minister Theresa May is set to invoke Article 50 triggering Brexit talks by the end of the month.

Meanwhile, she remains under pressure from the Scottish government to agree to a new independence referendum.

But in the House of Commons Mrs May told SNP deputy leader Angus Robertson that independence should not follow Brexit.
