Health care votes postponed in US

The promised votes to repeal and replace the massive Affordable Care Act, which expanded health insurance options for many Americans, has been postponed as Republicans have refused to reach an agreement on the key sections of the legislation.

The initial reviews of the essential proposals of the bill have found the current plan put forward by Speaker Paul Ryan would cost most Americans more money, and reduce options for many - the opposite of what was originally promised.

U.S. President Donald Trump has made the repeal and replace of "Obamcare" - the Affordable Care Act - one of his top priorities.

Representative Mark Meadows is the chair of the Freedom Caucus, which remains steadfast in it's opposition.

Despite Republican opposition, U.S. President Donald Trump remains confident the vote will happen.

The U.S. House of Representatives is holding a rare (Friday) session for possible votes on repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act (nicknamed Obamacase).
