FTSE 100 reaches record high


The  UK's FTSE 100 index of leading companies has hit a record high following a cut in interest rates by the US Federal Reserve and the results of the Dutch elections.   (It currently stands at over 7 thousand and forty points for the first time).

The biggest gainers are the miners, with Anglo American the standout following the purchase of a 12 per cent stake by an Indian businessman.    From London, Catherine Drew reports.
