Fifth round of Syria talks begins in Geneva

Next round of UN-backed talks on the Syrian crisis settlement kicks off in Geneva. Both the Syrian regime and the opposition have confirmed their participation. The rival sides are meeting against a backdrop of escalating violence and continuing deadlock on key issues, such as the fate of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
