White House holds first daily press briefing: Inauguration crowds, Russia and TPP

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer insists that President Trump's inauguration was "the most viewed ever", after berating reporters over the weekend for comparing the crowd at President Trump's inauguration with President Obama.

Mr Spicer said he was referring to online viewing figures combined with TV figures, and said he didn't lie about the crowd size.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said the United States would be open to working with Russia to help defeat Isis.

President Trump has suggested he might work with Russia to help defeat the terrorist group in Syria.

Mr Spicer told reporters the new administration would work with any country who shared America's national interests.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said the United States' withdrawel from the Trans Pacific Partnership signalled a "new era of trade policy".

Mr Spicer said multilateral trade agreements were "not always in the best interests" of the United States.
