UNESCO calls Islamic State attack on Palmyra ruins a war crime

INTRO:
United Nations cultural agency, UNESCO, has called an Islamic
State-led attack on ancient sites in Syria's Palmyra, a war crime.

UNESCO also reported that mass executions were taking place in the
ancient ruins by violent extremists in an act of human and cultural
cleansing.
