The United Nations has thrown its full backing behind West African states calling for a transfer of power in Gambia.
The council on Thursday unanimously adopted a resolution expressing support for the Economic Community of West African states — or ECOWAS — in its efforts to ensure Gambia's new elected president Adama Barrow assumes power from Yahya Jammeh.
