DEUTSCHE BANK AGREES MULTI-BILLION SETTLEMENT

Deutsche Bank has agreed to pay $7.2 billion to US authorities.

It's over an investigation into the sale of mortgage-backed securities, an issue which played a key role in the 2008 global financial crisis.

The agreement reached by the German bank is far lower than US authorities had initially asked for.

Swiss bank Credit Suisse has also agreed a $5.28 billion deal with the US.
