SECOND QUAKE HITS NZ

A second earthquake his hit the south island of New Zealand, to the northeast of Christchurch.

It came hours after the first quake in the same area which was 7.5 magnitude and killed two people.

That led to Tsunami warnings, power shortages, and cuts in water supply.

Rescue teams have been evacuating families along New Zealand's east coast.

Dr Richard Musson of the British Geological Survey says the first quake could cause aftershocks for months.
