Three US states are suing Volkswagen (VW), alleging that the automaker
knew their cars had been engineered to cheat US pollution tests. New
York, Maryland and Massachusetts filed lawsuits Tuesday accusing
former VW chief executive Martin Winterkorn and other top executives
of "systematic cheating and deception."
