The US has accused Russia of carrying out airstrikes in southern Syria against American-backed rebel forces, saying they'll raise the matter with Moscow.
But Russia in turn accused the Americans of relying on what it called terrorist factions in Syria to try and unseat the country's Kremlin-supported President, Bashar al-Assad.
