Witnesses said the trouble began in the Stade Velodrome after Russian fans let off flares toward the end, then climbed over barriers separating them from England supporters.
Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said the opening of the UEFA case was to be expected given the fans’ behaviour, as our Moscow correspondent Lorna Shaddick reports.
