Officials confirm Orlando gunman pledged ISIS allegiance

Officials in Orlando have confirmed that Omar Mateen, suspected of killing 49 people and injuring scores more, had pledged allegiance to the Islamic state terror group.

Mateen reiterated his loyalty to ISIS during a call with emergency services the night of the attack.

The militant group has claimed responsibility for the largest mass shooting in US history.

Florida Governor Rick Scott says the ISIS group, and ISIS-inspired attacks, must be stopped.
