French police are on high alert in the city of Lille with Russian, Slovakian, English and Welsh fans gathering there for euro 2016 games.
Russia have been handed a suspended disqualification from the tournament over trouble which broke out at the end of their first match against England in Marseille.
Organisers UEFA have been criticised for scheduling Wednesday's Russia / Slovakia game just a few miles from Thursday's match between England and Wales.
And French policing tactics have also been criticised for exacerbating tensions last week in Marseille.
