Reports of Sexual Assault Rising Sharply on US College Campuses

American students in their final year of high school are in the process of finding out which colleges have accepted their applications, and deciding which one they’ll attend.

But a new study shows the number of forcible sex crimes reported on U.S. college and university campuses more than doubled to 5,000 between 2001 and 2013.

The report, from the National Centre for Education Statistics, along with the Bureau of Justice Statistics, also showed that sex crimes increased by nearly 1000 from 2012 to 2013 alone.
