Leading U.S. universities are pushing back against a proposed State
Department rule that would bar foreign students from participating in
research or classes involving information considered vital to national
security. The Department of Justice said foreign spies and criminals
often target students and faculty to steal valuable technology and
intellectual property, so they have called US universities and labs to
help mitigate the threat.
