Palmyra arch recreated in London's Trafalgar Square

A near 6-metre tall replica of Palmyra's Triumphal Arch from the Temple of Bell has been erected in the middle of London's Trafalgar Square...

The stone arch - which was nearly destroyed by Islamic State in the Syrian city - was created by the Institute for Digital Archeology and will also go on display in New York later this month.

It was created using 3D printing technology in Italy - Alexy Karenowska from the IDA says its hoped the method could be used to recreate more ruins destroyed in Palmyra...
