The US Department of Justice has indicted seven Iranian hackers for attacks on dozens of banks and a dam in New York.
US Attorney General Loretta Lynch said the cyber hacks took place between 2011 and 2013 and affected 46 financial institutions, threatening the free market.
One individual also hacked the Bowman Dam in New York, giving him access to the dam's water levels and flow patterns, posing a public health and safety risk.
The DOJ and the FBI worked together to pursue the hackers, who they say have links to the Iranian government.
US Attorney General Loretta Lynch said that cyber criminals will be exposed.
