Most passengers have been freed after the hijack of a domestic EgyptAir flight by a man wearing a suicide belt who forced the plane to land in Cyprus.
Egyptian state TV say the man is Egyptian national Ibrahim Samaha who is seeking political asylum. His estranged wife lives in Cyprus and she has been reportedly drafted into negotiations.
4 foreign passengers and the crew had been detained on board, however more people have since disembarked and it's not now clear how many people are onboard the Airbus A320.
Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades has told reporters the hijack is not a terrorist incident.
Aviation expert Paul Charles says the airline will now face questions about how the man gained entry into the plane with the explosives.
