A UN panel has formally ruled that Julian Assange should be released from detention in London and compensated for his three years in the Ecuadorian Embassy.
The United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention has also pointed to a 'lack of diligence' from Swedish authorities.
However, Sweden and Britain both deny Mr Assange is being detained and insist he will still be arrested and extradited to face sexual assault charges if he leaves the embassy.
The Wikileaks founder has been taking refuge in the building since 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden.
